Inspiring all girls to be strong, smart & bold…

Love of Life 2012

love-of-life-event-logo“No matter the setting or context, she displayed great energy, demonstrated unparalleled curiosity and exuded a love of life… She wanted her passing to serve as a reminder to all that everyday is to be cherished, that tomorrow is not a promise, and that it is never to soon to share your love with others.”

Thank you to those who joined us in celebrating the life of former Board of Trustees Vice President, Darlene Costa Brown as we honored her commitment and service to Girls Inc. of Taunton.

Her profound impact on our organization and its members has been felt through her volunteer instruction of the Economic Literacy curriculum and her service on our Board of Trustees.   As a member of the administration and finance committee, she assisted in developing financial policies, and as chair of the fundraising committee aided in shaping our centennial year celebrations.  As vice president, Darlene hoped to lead us in shaping a future that was both secure and dynamic.  Her enthusiasm and fierce dedication for enriching the lives of our members infuses our mission and aids us in carrying on her life’s work.

Darlene’s honorable dedication to improving the world she lived in and service to the young girls in our community will be honored through the Annual Love of Life Event.  Girls Inc. of Taunton will recognize an annual benefactor who demonstrates a commitment to our mission and assists in shaping a dynamic and secure future, just as Darlene did.

The Dr. Darlene Costa Brown Leadership Scholarship , a merit-based award, was awarded to Sophia Branco.  This award recognizes the exceptional leadership skills and the innate qualities that inspire others to be strong, smart and bold.  Sophia will work with leadership staff and board members in developing her interest becoming an educator of English on military bases in Europe.  She will also explore career and education options in the fields of healthcare and marine biology.

Parties interested in making a donation in memory of Darlene please complete and return an Event Pledge Card
