Meet Jen Hoye

Advocacy Award

Jen Hoye is a writer, storyteller, and mental health advocate dedicated to breaking the silence around suicide and mental illness. After she lost her brother Teddy Fusco, Jr., to suicide in 2017, Jen channeled her grief into action and advocacy. She is the former board chair for the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), a storyteller with NAMI Massachusetts, and a frequent speaker on the topics of mental health and suicide. Jen created the #HealingMiles program in 2020 as a way to honor those lost to suicide, completing runs and walks across the U.S. to raise awareness and hope. She has represented Team AFSP in races like the Boston Marathon, the Chicago Marathon, and the Los Angeles Marathon. Her book, Thick Thighs, Colorful Tattoos, and Breaking Taboos: How I Lost My Brother and Found Myself Again Through Running and Advocacy, will be published in July 2025 to coincide with her brother Teddy’s 50th birthday. Jen lives in Taunton, MA, with her family and rescue animals.
